Signs of ESL are poor grammar (tho it depends, a lot of natives have worse grammar than ESLs) and unnatural phrases (that one is a dead giveaway but again gotta be cautious because what might be unfamiliar to American could be common in UK and there's AUS or CA too and individual states differ as well).
