>>80736078>Cover only “pays” for three things; albums sometimes, spaces for concerts, and sponsorships. Outfits used to also be part of it but that’s gone everything else is payed for by the girls, handled in house, or like with 3D lives both. They also get wishes, but it’s essentially the same as your boss giving you a $300 Christmas bonus in exchange for making him millions.Really tired of people saying this shit. There's a lot we don't know about what Cover pays for, however we know about some things.
To the best of my knowledge:
Models:
- Cover pays for their 2D and 3D model, as well as special event models like their kimono outfit, and the idol, school, and summer 3D models. They also pay for the cost of rigging these models.
- Talent are given one free new 2D outfit per year. Recently, Cover now lets the talent pay for one additional outfit per year themselves.
- Cover also pays for 2.0 and 3.0 updates to the live2D models, although these are slow to roll out. They also pay for updates to their 3D models.
- Cover pays for the background that they use during streams, but these are usually only given to the talent after enough time has passed to base the background on their personality and customize it to them. Talent are allowed to comission additional backgrounds and assets out of their own pocket, like Gura did for the RenPC watchalong background or the Switch background.
- Cover pays for one 3D stage model, customized to the talent, such as Chloe's Aquarium or Gura's Atlantis stage.
Hardware:
Cover pays for the cost of their tracking software and iphone they use for tracking. Some JP talent have mentioned getting replacement iphones for free.
- Cover pays for updates and development costs for their proprietary live2D software they use as well as the backend tech that allows them to join multiple members' streams with their model.
- They seem to have partnerships with Ouchi3D and mocopi and many talents received those for free.
Music:
- Cover pays for their first original song and associated music video, although not fully animated. Usually it's just text and moving images.
- They pay for some of the costs for additional original music and albums, like licensing, registration, etc., but fully animated MVs and most additional music is usually paid for by the talent. The exception to this is when the talent is signed to a third-party production label like Mori, in which case ALL costs of original music and music videos are paid for by the label. Rights are negotiated between Cover and the label.
- Cover handles rights and licensing negotiations for song covers.
- It's probable that Cover pays for a certain number of covers and associated lyric MVs per year per talent based on nearly every talent doing them. Additional licenses for covers and lyric MVs beyond that amount would definitely have to be paid for by the talent.
Events:
- Cover pays for the venue of paid concerts, as well as the entire production costs of special event company-wide concerts like holofes, blue journey, and hololive Summer.
- Cover pays for basic voice and dance training for new members and practice training for large events. This includes the cost of instructors and choreographers. Additional training is probably paid for by talent.
- Cover handles ticket sale negotiations when contracting through ticket sellers and venue partners such as SPWN, as well as online streaming rights negotiations.
- The production costs for personal 3D paid concerts may or may not be partially paid for by Cover, but the content of these concerts, such as music licensing, stage models, choreography, animators, and sound engineers are most likely paid for by the talent.
- Every talent is given one 3D live per year for an event of their choosing. This is usually reserved for birthdays. They also used to have the option of doing one for their anniversary, but due to the number of talents, each generation is given one 3D live for their anniversary instead.
Additional categories are merch, collaborations and sponsorships, and moderation and staff. I could make another post detailing those, but this is already way too long. The wishes you mentioned can be used for things like additional 2D or 3D models, which can exceed costs of $10k.
