>>80805817I haven't kept up on seeing if any attempts at a Hololive tournament came to light since April last year, where there was the Puyo Puyo Tetris tournament.
Like holy shit, that was a peak representation of a skill gap between skilled players and amateurs and how unfun it was watch with Marine. Nothing against her skill, she knew optimized patterns to get the combos she needed, but Marine just kept sweeping doing Puyo Puyo 5-chains to where the opponent got their board filled within 20 seconds. Even when they had fun with Suisei Tetris-ing against Marine at the end, Suisei may have gotten...one win? No more than 2, so even Suisei couldn't beat that.
I also don't know how (un)balanced getting chains in Puyo Puyo is compared to 3-rows or Tetris in Tetris, but Marine galaxy brained combos like nothing and no one stood a chance.
Consider it was just over a year ago, I wouldn't doubt they're planning better game tournaments to create a more equal skill floor with little variability in skill ceiling to avoid something like that again. Really, the yearly Mario Kart is the one where it seems like they found the right balance in everyone being equal, you just have to know the courses and balancing boost.
