They had a real purpose. A REAL purpose. ever since Myth, all the way back in 2021, they were fucking outmoded. the primary purpose they served was to deliver highlight reels to people too lazy to actually watch the streams and who also didn't care enough to ask others what the good parts of the stream were, they are casual enablers and worse, depending on whoever is picking the clips, they can give a distorted and cherrypicked view of someone or of multiple people in what they present.
good riddance. if they started copystriking dramachannels too then that'd be the cherry on top really. do you fucking actually like hololive? do you REALLY care? do you call yourself a fan? fucking watch the streams then. clippers have cultivated a "fan of the fandom" type of outer shell and ironically this is like "secondary" touhou fans on /jp/ back in the day. or maybe not ironically, this is just what happens with shit that gets popular but the primary material maybe is not immediately palatable to everyone so you have another system processing it and repackaging it to sell to them.
