I have the exact same specs... it's fine because nothing worth playing has come out on PC in the past 7 years. As long as I can keep running Civ V and emulated PS2 games I won't have to upgrade any time soon. Ceci probably should though since she'll end up being unable to participate in some new FOTM zoomerslop fad game at some point without a modern rig to compensate for the developer's shitty unoptimized spaghetti code.

It's not a reckless and unnecessary purchase if it's literally the main tool you use for your job. Even if performance was not a concern, hardware wears out and gets less reliable with time. If her gpu suddenly breaks, the missing streams are going to cost her more than a brand new PC.

1080 is probably the best GPU ever made. it still holds its own. you can play elden ring, cyberpunk etc with it just fine
