Nijisanji kinda "dominated" Japanese fanbase in 2018-2019 when Hololive was still a new small agency, and 5chan is basically Japanese 4chan, so it makes sense that 5chan would still talk about Niji more, even though Hololive is slowly taking up Niji's JP pie as well

The Hololive section of vtubers is always significantly more populated than the Nijisanji section; which I don't recall anyone in the aisles for Nijisanji for that matter.
Maybe it has more to do with people more willing to support Hololive as a hobby as a fan. Either way, I can't see Hololive being below anyone else in the industry

Not really, although I did see the Hololive sections grew a lot from 2023 to 2024, the thing is every store that has a Hololive section also has a sizeable Niji section. But go to the more fujo oriented shops, especially in Ikebukuro, and it's Niji wall to wall with only a small Hololive corner usually.

It's true to some extent, they aren't in the gutter yet there because no situation has blown out of proportion yet like the Selen termination case has even given the list of scandals that someone compiled up. But at the same time, NijJP has lost a lot of its luster from prior years and they no longer have the people going heads over heels to join, from the looks of it. From what I understand Niji is a bit ahead in the JP market but every single other market they are losing badly and often not in 2nd or 3rd place. Obviously Japan is the largest market for vtubers but I think that's already changing. I think if Hololive really wanted, they could sell out Madison Square Garden on multiple days where as Nijisanji could never. With the weakening yen continuing and other markets less saturated, and Nijisanji's endess controversies and labor abuses of not just their talents but artist, I don't see them as number 1 and I think we could have a better culture if they were ultimately gone
