The idea of having everything in one spot is also what's led to Steam becoming a Console-esque platform and led to a lot of issues recently with many believing that if a game isn't on Steam it doesn't exist or isn't worth buying which has led to a lot of issues in the Japanese gaming scene with how ban happy Steam can be with their games. They banned(and later after mass backlash) A FUCKING SCI;ADV VN, a console game with no porn. They also banned Dungeon Travelers 2 and 2-2 of which the former has an ESRB rating.
There's a lot of concern over that, even more with the credit card companies fucking over DLsite, DMM/Fanza and more in the last few months.
