When I was parasocial (aka a fond fan of a specific streamer), I made a point of watching every stream my oshi did, buying most merch, sent superchats and gift subs, and drew fanart for thumbnails.
Now that I've been balancing vtubers with other hobbies and don't feel that strong urge to focus on my oshi, my support mellowed out to "I might check in on a stream if I can and if it interests me" levels and I haven't donated to anyone in maybe half a year.
THIS is what "parasocial bad" chuubas are asking for when they act like it's a boogeyman term: casual viewers who come and go because they don't feel compelled to watch consistently or show extra support.
It's like if gacha game developers wanted to do away with whales.
