>>8173383Since I've been there from the start I can tell you it didn't use to be like that. I made the "koopa phone" post as half a joke and I think a little insight can be interesting, even if both threads have obviously a very different basis.
At the start (late october) /wvt/ was only discussing a few not /there/ chuubas like Rose (africat), Mocca, Nina, Corpse etc.
Then around late Nov/early December some vtubers started doing rare self posts (like Yoro) and Koopa debuted too, /vt/ wasn't a thing so she came to /wvt/. It was still mostly viewers talking about vtubers, with the occasional vtuber selfpost. Already the regular viewers were pretty known because the community wasn't that big so it was impossible for that not to happen.
The turning point came after that, Eira was 1st~2nd wvt anon to become vtuber as she was a big fan of hololive and was inspired by Koopa story to do it too. A dude called Carmine also did the same. At the same times more and more vtubers relevant to the thread started finding it and self posting (partly from link statistics), the % of vtuber increased. Because of that, a lot of the community interaction became interaction between vtubers and some small chats were full of vtubers talking to each other. Being a regular viewer at that moment felt pretty bad, you really could feel left behind as the ones who streamed had fun while you could just watch. This started a snowball effect of many people turning into vtubers, as more and more vtubers from outside also found the thread.
Eventually around march the thread became 70%+ vtubers and they don't talk that much about ongoing streams anymore, it's mostly a networking/socialing ground between artfags and vtubers. Doesn't mean that simply being here make you a bad streamer really, but as a viewer it's really not that fun of a place anymore.
