In Asia, if you are in a job interview, and you get a contract, you sign it on the spot or you don't get it.That's because in the US there is more money and goods than there are people. People are needed to keep things moving (even if its by forcing artificial demand with oversized "marketing" departments--it's still seen as a need). A lot of US companies act like they have all of the power, and in some markets they do, but in more than half of all industries, they need you. Even despite robots and other automation, even fucking warehouse stockers are in demand.
In Asia, however, there are more people than money, so the employer has all of the power. I can't imagine how she could begin to explain the gap in this experience to anyone she knows IRL in Indonesia.
