You cannot simply say "Genes A, B and C", because melanin used it more of the body than just skin (eye color for example, is melanin), and not every gene ONLY does one thing (i.e. may do more than influence melanin levels in one place). So even if you went through more-than-one-hundred genes--yes there are that many--that influence melanin production, you still could say with exact specificity "why they are brown".
