I want to see Petra succeed. She does have a few good streams under her belt, but what I fail to understand is why she simply doesn't go all out. To be blunt, Petra strikes me as a good girl, a pretty normal, lovable girl behind the screen. However, when it comes to vtubing she simply needs to relax and show us how odd and weird she can be. I'm guessing an unfiltered Petra is an interesting watch. Her cooking stream was unintentionally great comedy - she started the stream claiming she knows what she's doing and that she has done it a thousand times, and then EVERYTHING went wrong and it was fucking hilarious. Her collab with Rosemi and Selen where they played Mario was great too, they go well together and their contrasting personalities bounce off each other.
Her model is great, I like her voice, she can sing, and the only reason I feel she isn't growing as she could is that she's too attached to either her parents or some idea of "public opinion." She seems too self-aware in the wrong way. As a streamer behind an avatar, she is playing a ROLE. She is ACTING. And is in an unique position where she can just forget about who is really is and display all the hidden parts of her personality which don't fly IRL for various reasons. This is how life is, and more importantly this is how vtubing is. NOBODY WILL HOLD YOU ACCOUNTABLE OR FIND IT WRONG IF YOU'RE WEIRD while being Petra. That makes for great content and doesn't reflect upon your real life in the slightest.
The whole ordeal with the ecchi content was a mistake. The kind of people who bitched about that are precisely the kind of people who are most vocal and most disinterested. The first thing, the FIRST thing any person who watches vtubers (or anime, or a cartoon) and grew attached to a character is to look up porn of said character. Anyone claiming otherwise is a fucking liar. By caving in to these twitter turds she shot herself in the knee, because the bottom line is this translates to "No Fun Allowed." And those people don't watch her at all, or are invested in her, or care about her. They simply love to complain and make others fall in line.
Pomu carved out a niche for herself while just being Pomu. A woman plugged deeply into the culture, and with her own way of doing things. Rosemi is still struggling but is invested. I'm not sure if others noticed this, but her last ASMR stream had tech difficulties and there was no audio. When audio was restored (it was a random glitch: OBS shat itself by itself and just decided to start working) I could tell in the first few sentences she spoke that she was on the verge of crying. She quickly recovered her composure and did what she could, promising a better ASMR soon to come. She clearly wants to entertain us. Petra... Petra needs to relax, cut loose, experiment. Maybe she needs more collabs with Pomu or Selen, or Rosemi, or Finana, or other Niji's to get into the groove by osmosis.
There's another problem though - timeslots. Nijisanji dropped the ball completely at the very start. Cover went all in, balls deep, into EN. They took it seriously at the start while Niji did not. By the time they started properly Holo EN was already flying high and we all grew attached to this or that chuuba. I am known as Schizocroat in Gura's threads, and I am deeply attached to Gura. But I am not a tribalfaggot. I watch girls I enjoy, simple as. But when timeslots overlap I WILL choose Gura, and I think this time slot issue is handicapping Niji. They need to time their streams when HoloEN isn't streaming. This will cause more people to check out their content, and some will stay and grow attached. It's a different experience watching stuff live that as a VOD.
The alcohol is kicking in. Petra, I watch you and want to see you succeed. Try to relax. Experiment. When you start streaming you are Petra, and nobody else. What happens in the stream stays in the stream.
