How did they manage to get accepted into Japanese society despite Japan being one of the most xenophobic countries on earth?

I think they're probably half or quarter Japanese, even though they've said before that they aren't Japanese at all. They probably don't want to talk about it because it affects their family's privacy, but they lived in Japan for a while as idols when they were younger, and that would be very hard to do if they didn't have relatives there to help them with the language and everyday things you need to get by. It would also explain why they have all those old/retro tastes in games, anime, and music if they got it from a Japanese relative.
