>>82461344We can generalize and list some things indies have and don't have.
-Total freedom for everything related to video games, this means they can emulate and mod games freely with no worries
-Cover whatever songs they want, sing whatever you want for karaoke (the same music/copyright shit autism applies to them anyway though, it's risky for everyone)
-Direct control of all your merch designs, I've seen 2 digit vtuber indies with good and cute merch that doesn't break the bank
-Might earn less than some corpo vtubers, but a BIG payday means they still get to keep most of the profit for themselves without having to pay the corpo tax on top of the streaming platform cut as well
-Contrary to popular belief, you don't need to be a 10K+ consistent viewer streamer to make a living. Mid-tier 3 digit viewership is usually good enough for someone to live off of, assuming people donate a lot and sub etc.
-More shit I'm too lazy to list
On the downside
-You're not given an established audience like most corpos, you have to try your luck from zero VS all the other streamers and vtubers out there in the wild and the failure rate is ridiculously high
-Your more than likely low budget model will usually make people not watch you
-Your expensive model will also not guarantee you will get an audience
-The ability to collab with anyone without a middleman means that indies are prone to 150% more drama and retarded gay shit that breaks their good streaks
-Most indies indulge topics that incite hostility in the audience by nature, like politics, or they create a huge circlejerk of yesmen that drive away potential new viewers
-More shit I'm too lazy to list
There's pros and cons to indies and corpos, but corporate vtubers usually have the edge when it comes to their stable earnings, while indies can lose a lot and not get a big paycheck in a long time despite putting in the work. IIRC the girls in Hololive get a stable salary on top of what they earn doing the work, so they always have that guaranteed paycheck coming in regardless of performance. Indies don't have that, it's all just earnings which can put pressure on them. Having an IRL job + streaming is a good combo for an indie but then it could affect the content output. It's a whole other world of discussion, man.
