Literally doing the test stream could break the computer. That's what could have caused it. Your computer could die before you finish this sentence, just sporadically because of thermal stress breaking one interconnect out of millions. It might break when you click the reply button, caused by one tiny over-voltage across one of those interconnects that pushed it beyond breaking point.
This is even more likely with a GPU or a PSU, given they are using fairly beefy computers. PSU particularly, since a lot of people cheap out on those and buy garbage tier PSUs and BHAM it dies when you do something intense.
There's a million reasons for something to break even after testing something successfully.
