It has some of the best and worst animation in the industry and some of the best and worst adaptations of manga. Not only that, but the non-manga "filler" is also some of the best and worst stories ever told.
It's an enigma. There are websites dedicated to telling you which anime episodes to skip but only 10% of the anime is anime-only story.
I wouldn't ever dare someone to watch the anime but I would pressure them to watch specific seasons and episodes.
