I saw a post about how Phantomime as a concept is a series of Mori's masks being removed until you reach her true self at the end, in through the Blue, and I thought that was interesting and decided to look into it deeper
>Tide
Most public-facing version of Mori - "I am Mori Calliope and although you may struggle, and things may be difficult, believe me that you can do it!" It's inspiriational, she wants everyone whether they are fans of her or not to do their best
>SNEAKING (revenge)
You're checking me out? Well I am a vtuber! I got paid to make this song by Konami! It's a shitpost! I love video games and MGS! I got Lotus Juice on the track!
>Go-Getters
Yes, its anime anime ED tie in, but also its about being a go-getter. its about me being edgy and cool. its SEXY. its a bop!
>Overkill
this is where the you start digging a bit deeper - this is where you see Mori showing her frustrations at the things around her. relatable to some, but mostly a look into her thoughts
>Cult Following
now that you've seen a bit more of her, she reveals another mask to say "so? wont you join on as a loyal fan? I want to make you my fan and have you follow me into any stupid battles I might engage in. also I can be pretty aggressive if you havent noticed
>DONMAI
deeper now than just public frustrations and outbursts, this is down into her self-doubt and imposter syndrome. probably wont ever be defeated, but she can dance along with it now
>Midnight Mayoi
now were into the things that really make her happy - the love of her friends. while this one is just about Kobo, the picture of being lost in a city is romantic if its somewhere safe and you have someone you love with you.
>skeletons
continuing on a theme of being lost, this time its her insecurities about feeling lost. What should she do from here? what should she have done leading up to here? this is something she thinks about alot
>last days
now down to the final mask, this facet of Mori contains all the things she's learned up to now. All the references to older songs shows how her time has made marks on her and who she is, while also thinking about what happens when its all over? how many people will come and go in her life? maybe not something that is CONSTANTLY on her mind, but something that influences alot of who she is.
>through the blue
now that the masks are all off, we see something pure and undiluted of Mori. the song is deeply personal and as it is made from specific memories to her, and in that regard its a piece of her soul. others may have had very similar experiences, and there were other people in that memory of blue balloons she told us about, but that memory is hers alone, and so is this song (bonus points for it being self-produced)
>Go-getters feat YOON
what is deeper than than your pure, unmasked self? we've gone through her logical brain and her self-throttling doubt from her super-ego, so all that's left is her lizard brain. this song has gone too deep because the message here is that the thing she cannot control is sex with korean women. its always been in the deepest parts of her and will probably always be there
