This can be good and bad. Put up a decent story and people will eat that shit up.
With holo, the advantage is that no matter who wins you can still put a decent story behind it because every holo has some or the other story behind it because of the interconnected nature of the group.
Niji just isn't that well-connected with each other, so when some rando with no hype or story behind them wins it's naturally not very satisfactory to the viewers.
Everyone goes like "who?".
Same shit happens to sports and esports events when some rando team with no hype behind them wins.
This is why commentators on such events hype up pretty much every team involved so that the audience isn't disappointed when some random no name team wins it all.
