>>83463639basically this, cover was started with a couple million from VCs. the ENTIRE POINT of being a halo VC investor is betting that the company will be successful enough to go public. the ENTIRE POINT is getting first dibs on IPOs. this was literally always the end-goal for Cover to be a public-traded company since Sora basically. yagoo never had a say in it, he would have been replaced with someone who would then have taken it public and been demonized for it, at least with yagoo at the helm it's like "well at least we know Cover is still Cover" instead of the optics of Cover leadership getting decapitated and replaced with people who "suddenly" wanted to go public. no, it wasn't sudden, it was always fated to happen.
the real boondoggle has already been stated several times, it's holoearth. the ambitions for the game are way way higher than what Cover was capable of, they overestimated their own abilities there which required them to hire more and more and more people and the thing still isn't really functional. they could and should have made a little crappy gacha phone game and they'd have made billions off it by now. by the time holoearth hits Cover's own star power will be kind of faded. holoearth will already exist without Coco, but also now without Aqua or Rushia etc. imagine how much extra money they'd have brought in if those girls were still around for it. fate will do its thing and they will lose big stars at various points due to whatever factors, the girls quit or do something that demands a firing etc. regloss is a flop in Japan and they don't seem intent on doing a bunch more gens now, what they've got is what they've got and they have only one pekora, one marine etc to strike while the iron is hot. here they are building up the whole blacksmith shed first while the heated iron sits on the ground outside.
