OP here. Another question: So are the other english speakers half-Japanese? Like I know Gura is American, but surely she has to have some connection to Japan. Vtubing is mostly an Asian thing right?

There was a pair of twins in my year at school that had different accents. It was a private school so one of them had a fairly neutral upper middle class English accent, the other though was a wigger and if you were blind you'd think he was black.

Vtubing started in Japan and Hololive is a Japanese company, but there was only one Asian in Myth (the first generation of the English branch which Gura is part of). I'd say probably most EN corpo and indie vtubers have some Asian heritage - usually Korean or Chinese though rather than Japanese (and often from Canada for some reason).

Nope. Gura is 100% a white American girl. Ina and Kronii are Korean, but from Canada. Mori is white, she's from Dallas but lives in Japan. Ame, Mumei, Fauna and Kiara are white. The last 2 EN gens are filled with Asians who live in North America. The twins are 100% pure white Canadian that try to sound and look Japanese. It's pretty cringe. Bae is a chink from Australia. Irys is half jap and half white. The newest EN gen I know nothing about, but I'm sure a couple of them are Asians who grew up in the US or Canada. Hololive is getting like Nijisanji, hiring Asians from North America or Asians who's English is their 2nd language but can speak it pretty well.

Irys is not a hapa, or at least she's not a hapa like Henya who had to get her mom to go to the school she attended in japan and inform the principal that she did not dye her hair. Irys is a Hawaiian-born Japanese raised in US schools. Also the newest Holo EN gen is the most European gen ever with 3 girls from Germany, UK and Italy
