>>83878461Yup, just another case where the Japanese language adopts and uses an English word to describe a concept for which there already is a different English word, simply because the word they chose sounds cool to their ears. Besides using "live" for "concert," they also use the word "cunning" to mean "a person who cheats at exams/sports/etc;" native English speakers would call that person a "cheater" and describe their deceptive actions as "trying to be cunning."
A much worse example is "techno break" - two English words that native English speakers would recognize individually but not together; Japanese speakers would recognize the phrase to mean "death by excessive masturbation"
...don't look at the Nihonjin like that! Us Anglophones are just as guilty as them, if not more so!
