There is no "upwards trajectory." They have no escape path anymore.
The ONLY paths forward are "slow decline" or "fast decline." Any sudden movement could shift them from the slow decline path they're currently on to the fast decline path.
If two talents leave at once, then it could trigger a "run on the market" in terms of fans. People could just say

If you elongate that timeframe, it gives them just a little bit more time to get a little bit more money before it all ends.
