How do you do archive your favorite vtuber/company VODs anons?
Twitch deletes streams after about 2 months, internet archive is being successfully sued to delete it's content and youtube is not reliable, as seen today with ironmouse VOD channel with over 1000 VODs being deleted.
Yt-dlp is good enough to download live streams and VODs, but how do you manage the size exactly?
A 4:00:00 VOD is about 12gb.
A 6:00:00 VOD is about 18gb.
If you bought 1 (one) 12TB HDDs just for archiving vtuber VODs, that would be about 800-900 VODs, which is not even enough to archive ironmouse VODs, for example.
To archive HololiveEN and VShojo VODs you would need an estimate of thirty (30) 12TB HDDs.
Leaving companies asides, there are plenty of independent vtubers that have hundreds of 6 hour VODs.
This isn't feasible.
Re-encode the VODs with FFMPEG to x265 seems to be the obvious option. There are millions of settings that involve speed using your hardware (GPU, CPU) and quality settings to compress a file and get the biggest quality, the question is which would be the perfect settings to reduce the size while maintaining quality.
Any archive-anon expert?
