https://youtu.be/nexhYTQCDygSo I watched this, and...
Yeah it's pretty bad.
The format was basically -
1. x number of staff members.
2. Each round will have a theme.
3. Holos pick which staff they think will tell the better joke (like picking a horse for racing)
4. The staff then write the joke, and the holos have to read it.
Asking complete fucking normies with zero entertainment skills to write jokes on the spot... well it was obviously not gonna end well.
The girls worked with what they got but the jokes were just waaay too fucking boring, it was like asking your grandpa to write a joke in 1 minute based on an anime meme.
I think the bigger issue though, was that this came right on the tail of all of ReGloss' fuckups, the initial bad marketing, the mishandling (which almost caused them to lose 2 talents), the sub milestone push, the unedited male voice during their vlog (who was one-sidedly bantering with Kanade, basically someone bts hinting "haha I'm being friendly with your oshi, faggots!" in a spiteful way)...
And of course there's some amount of leftover anger from hlztl, last year's anniversary homo/regloss push, the VCR pushes, blocking Miko's GTA for so long, all the homoshilling, the bilibili entry etc. as well.
Aqua's graduation is I think the main reason for fans being on such high alert. They can feel the tides shifting, just as it initially did when Coco left.
But whereas Coco leaving made the holos go full idol (while still balancing streaming), this change in direction feels much more like some trumped up asshole hired from outside of Hololive making high level decisions.
One good thing is that they are getting pushback from every direction, and viewership is increasingly getting concentrated into the hands of the more prominent holos.
It's certainly a civil-war like situation over there.
