the target audience of this game is young couples and the main characters are a slightly-older-than-young couple going through a divorce, who have a kid
if you make them heroes and completely self-sacrificial and/or get back together then you set unrealistic expectations and teach no lessons
if you have at least one thought-provoking scene that focuses on the selfish/petty/thoughtless nature of how people can be during divorce, especially the part where they arent caring enough how the kid feels about it and how that makes them terrible people, then it makes people actually take this thing more seriously and reflect on their own flaws and how much pain this can all cause
also a relevant lesson in modern times because divorce rates are disgustingly high in todays world
