They also seem to completely ignore any common rules for cops and there's no penalty for just randomly arresting or searching people.
Good example why it sucks was when Pekora shot the police helicopter. Police showed up, looked for known criminals and started checking their inventories even though they had done nothing. Then since they had guns so they then arrested them.
Other example would be Mumei getting randomly handcuffed while she was dead. She was then taken to the hospital and they called the cops because of the handcuffs. Apparently just being handcuffed was somehow enough evidence to then take her to jail and search her.
