I almost felt the same way you did until I saw that she's actually the culprit. She constructed the entire marrying Marine in GTA plot all by herself and was the one initiating contact with Marine most of the time especially during the final day.
Not only that but she knows people are criticizing her for doing what she does and deletes comments about it.
