>>86413274Back in the day when D2 first came out, it was kinda trash, because it took all the things that had improved in D1 during the last two years, threw it out, replaced it with a looter shooter where all the weapons had non-random rolls and thus no point in looting them more than once, and then on top of that released some of the worst standalone expansion packs they've ever done.
They scrambled to fix it, and the way that they started that fix was by taking a character that was beloved and shooting him in the fucking face until he died, then shooting his Ghost buddy until they died, too, so he couldn't respawn, and then shot him to death again to put him down for good. It was a major gut-punch to people. BUT, in doing so, they launched the expansion pack that saved the game and started an era that's nowadays considered probably the absolute peak of the game's relevancy and quality.
I'm not saying that Hololive is in that level of direness, far from it, but the idea that one of these early members who was loved by a lot of people is leaving made me search for ways to deal with it, and so I thought of that idea, where it's the starting bell for a renaissance period. If we get lucky, I suppose.
