If you think about it, making it as an indie vtuber is really hard without any sort of funding. Most indies live with their parent(s), so we're gonna say that most of them don't have too many bills to pay aside from maybe car insurance or something. Most people working a minimum wage job take home about $2,500 a month. Without any other form of cash flow sources of revenue, an indie would need at least 500 subs to match what someone flipping burgers would be making per month. That's not even considering Twitch's cut. You can expect maybe at most of 30% of your total viewers to be subscribed to you, so even if you average 1,000 viewers or so, you're still barely scraping by and hardly making anything. There's also the fact that after you make more than $10,000 in a year, you have to report it to the IRS and have even more of a cut taken out
