Touhou hysteria is responsible for propelling comiket to its current size and basically defining the subculture around the convention. If you or your oshi has fapped to doujin they've almost certainly been touched by touhou in some way. Not to mention the metric fuckload of poplar musicians, singers and producers that got their start with touhou doujin music, and the popular artists that started out doing touhou parodies before spinning off to their own brands (ie Bkub)
Vocaloid is relevant mostly because it was the proving ground for basically every other major producer in the industry right now and virtually every 'big' jp vtuber that's been around more than 3 years started out as an utaite covering touhou songs on ndd (plus a healthy number of current mainstream popstars like Reol). The iconic style that emerged from the vocaloid subculture came to essentially define what modern anisong pop sounds like.
