>>86965504To this day, not a single person in the industry has understood the appeal of Hololive completely.
It's not just one, but SEVERAL things that Hololive's top talents excel in one after the other, in order to get the fuck-huge audience that they have right now. I'm going to list them in increasing order of importance.
> 1. IdolshitObviously far more popular in Japan. And HoloEN have a solid hold on the niche in EN. Very hard to replicate without proper funds, and even with funds you can get an audience mismatch for this type of thing e.g. VShojo & Phase concerts. For some reason this is what most EN chuubas have latched on to as "success", despite the next points being a much bigger requirement that FEEDS INTO the concept of idols.
> 2. CGDCT/BoxThis is obviously something no one other than Hololive have been able to replicate to full effect, because a group of women will ALWAYS devolve into infighting, shitflinging and catfights. For Holos, every new collab leads into new dynamics, new collab groups, and even some one and done lost groupings that don't work out, but they treat it as "it is what it is" and one failure doesn't stop most of them from trying new things. Somehow HoloEN have managed to keep inter-talent conflicts on the down-low for the most part.
There was the CGDCT event from a few small corpos but I didn't follow it closely enough to check how good it was, but at least SOME of them seem to be attempting to build boxes of their own and embrace CGDCT.
> 3. ComedyThis is where every other company completely and utterly fails to even READ the market.
HoloJP's top talents have peak fucking comedy on their side. No matter WHAT they do, they do it in a way that ends up being hilarious. Whether it's Korone and her random-ass silly drawings, Subaru's tsukkomis and exaggerated reactions, Pekora and Miko's reactions and banter with their chat, and all the comedy oriented collab groups like SMOK, TowaMOS, Bakatare, Micomet etc. it's all various forms of comedy that have still not been replicated in the rest of the EN industry. HoloEN have SOME talents like Gura, Raora etc. who focus on comedic aspects, but they're still quite inconsistent about it, and there's no talent like Pekora or Miko in HoloEN who is strong enough at comedy to be KNOWN for their comedy more than anything else.
And obviously the rest of the EN industry have absolutely NOTHING on Holos. I can only think of Tenma in the EN sphere who is actually known for her comedy before anything else, rest of the industry is completely fucking dry in that genre.
> 4. StoryTop talents of HoloJP lead this by miles and miles, although HoloEN have slowly started catching up - but they still have a long way to go.
Nothing can even be said about the rest of the EN industry, even people like Ironmouse haven't managed to create a story for themselves even though they were given some of the best starting points for an arc.
> 5. Lack of DramaThis is something that's impossible for EN. HoloEN have each other, IDs and JPs to collab with, but asking the rest of the EN industry to collab with each other without creating drama is an impossible task.
If two people interact, there will ALWAYS be some or the other drama that inevitably results from it. Professionalism is a lost art in the EN sphere, and people will air out every single detail of every minor gripe they have with someone else online just to get a few pats on their back.
> 6. ConsistencyThere may be chuubas that are 2views, indies, small corpos and random groups who MAY have all of these factors combined, but they never seem to be able to put out the talents they have in a way that hooks people onto them. And even when they have little sparks of it, get clipped and get some eyes on them, they seem to just.. not be consistent about it. In a stream of 3 hours, you'd have maybe 2-3 moments that are cute or funny or make you chuckle, and there's often moments where you get the "ick" so to speak - unironically shitting on the fans, being bored of the game or whatever they're doing etc. Whereas in most top Holos' streams you'll consistently have a smile on your face because every few minutes they're saying or doing something cute or funny or otherwise interesting.
> 7. MarketingSomeone who may have ALL these factors has never really bubbled up into the EN industry just yet, because they seem to have trouble properly conveying to the audience that they HAVE all these talents.
Obviously not all Holos fill every single box depicted here. But there's ENOUGH who do, that it trickles down to the rest of the box. HoloEN is still shaky but even that patched-up box is MUCH better than ANYTHING that any EN VTuber group has managed to put forth.
