I've been told that in someone's 1st and sometimes 2nd year of employment you see them at peak performance. It's when you reach your 3rd year at the same employer that effort and passion starts to go down reaching some of its lowest points.
Usually around the 4th year of employment is when you start to see a true average of performance in their work that goes on until they either leave or retire from the business.
