I don’t know when or even if she’ll ever get to do more 40K stuff on stream, but watching Boltgun gameplay to decide whether to get it myself, I think despite the fps genre, the “low res” graphical style making textures of the environments invoke the sprite look while the enemy is outright sprites DOOM style I think would really be up her alley, even if it wasn’t 40K.

DS2 is my favorite of the original trilogy because it turned the difficulty up from DS1 and had some really amazing DLCs. I really liked DS3 too, but imo the DS2 DLC gives it the slight edge. Eleum Loyce might be my favorite area in all of Souls

I haven't played Lies of P but I found dodging in Sekiro pretty situational, and simply sprinting around with infinite stamina more effective as an evasive maneuver. Deflecting is almost universally the better option

I agree but and issue rises when parries become the sole tool a player utilizes which I've seen way too often with people who play Sekiro. The game offers so many options to engage enemies yet running up to people's face and spamming parry is what everyone does and the game absolutely punishes you for doing that. The fact that you can still beat the game by doing that speaks to how powerful the deflect is though

That's what I mean. You typically only get one successful attack on an enemy (even trash mobs) before you get locked into the deflection dance which is the fastest way to chunk posture and kill 95% of what the game throws at you

You ain't playing the game right then. Hyper aggression is the best way to play. They give you so many tools to let you attack and I think people forget that the enemy posture bar resets much slower the lower the health is of the boss. People being too much of a pussy is why they think Sekiro is really hard.

No I just mean when you run up to an enemy and start attacking you'll usually only get one hit off before they start deflecting and then you start deflecting back until they break or you loop back to the start of the process. The game doesn't let you spam R1. Most enemies will die after one loop but the game makes you play by its rhythm

You should still press the attack when they start deflecting though. Genichiro in particular can be locked into a really easy loop as long as you keep attacking while he deflects

Who cares about trash though? It's even easier to run past it if you want than DS. Most bosses and mini boss can be interrupted by just attacking them instead of just waiting for them to do something to deflect it. The game's catch phrase literally tells you how to play.

it's funny because DMC on Normal (especially 4/5) would be the most relaxing time she'd have fighting enemies in a while
everything in those games has huge telegraphed tells, rarely attacks at the same time and once you learn to maintain some airtime you're invulnerable to 80% of the enemies
also she'd finally get a game where doing cool shit actually pays off 100%

You know, it's surprisingly effective playing hit and away in Sekiro. Get your one hit in, sprint out, sprint back in, get another hit in, rinse and repeat. It's rarely the optimal strategy to ignore an entire core mechanic of the game but, hey, most Sekiro players do that anyway by only engaging with deflection.

It's not. It's a terrible strategy that turns a 10 second fight into a 10 minute fight. It's suited only for people who want to win but for some reason refuse to learn the main gameplay mechanic.
