That an alien species gets so advanced and can create so much power that they eventually just close themselves off from the rest of the universe in artificial realities since they can exist more efficiently there and continue to "evolve" as a species digitally.
Another slightly related is they get so advanced that they figure out how to sprout up their own bubble universes and float off from ours, escaping its eventual heat death fate. (not that they need to rush it)
