The first step is to have the staff to support that work. Imagine how much better it would be if these companies actually hired staff to handle the rigging and art? A unified motion and look? That opens way more doors than "hahaha funny collab, look at how bad risu mouth moves hahaha!!!!" But the companies don't care, they just the supachattas just the same so why innovate?
Additionally, having unified, locally sourced art means they can use that art in whatever they want. All of that is on 2d art, even though 3d models should really be the standard at this point. But I'll give them that 2d models use less resources.
