it acts as a proxy for my actual money because when i spend it i dont actually spend my money and when i am sure that the purchase has gone through properly i then pay the credit card company with my actual money
if anything happens when i make a purchase on the credit card or my card number gets stolen or sold i can just cancel it along with all the purchases that may have been made on the card
if my debit card number gets stolen or sold all the money that is hypothetically taken out of my account is gone and i would have a much more difficult time reclaiming it
if you dont use a credit card to proxy your money you are the strange one i would say especially since the credit card companies pay you for using their service
if you also dont pay off your credit card immediately you are using it wrong which is where i think a lot of the misconception comes from
