>>88670251I've known several people who went through a PhD program and currently follow a youtuber doing his PhD who puts out youtube videos daily.
A PhD is a lot of intellectual labour but the hours are flexible and there's basically no structure as long as you can meet deadlines. Nobody goes for a PhD without also having a job on the side and often PhD students are also running a 9-5 career and just doing the degree in their spare time.
Fans seriously overestimate how much of a time investment vtubing is. It's one thing if you're some indie on twitch streaming 11 hours a day to stay relevant but the majority of active holos put in like 10 streaming hours a week, with maybe an hour or 2 of offstream prep. The majority of their productive time in hololive is spent on 'projects' in the background like vocal training, meetings, recording etc. but Mumei is very obviously not doing any kind of vocal or dance training outside of immediate concert leadup, is not featuring in hologra or putting out songs and only rarely shows up in voiced events or merch.
She's literally just doing the Gura thing, coasting on an unannounced hiatus (Cover thinks it's a bad look to announce sabbaticals) because her heart isn't in it. I want to say "anymore" but really Mumei debuted into hiatus, there's no mean to regress to here.
