>>88860718is discord spyware?
>are my conversations private?no. historically discord has been able to trace their users activity and messages when relevant for law enforcement. that doesn't make it spyware, it just makes it less private than advertised
>does discord sell my in-app user data?seemingly no. I've never heard any report of somebody getting targetted advertising on another platform based on what they've said in discord. discord itself also doesn't include targetted advertising, only promotional deals and in-app cosmetic offers.
>does discord collect and/or sell off-app user data?it's possible that discords background services collects data on your activity (note: same concern exists for any other app). this is relevant for the desktop app and the mobile app, but thankfully desktop users can use the web version (which will for sure not run anything if you don't have it open) instead of installing the app, and webapps have an extremely limited access to information about what you're doing outside of their webpage. the mobile apps background service is necessary for discord to be able to give you notifications when you're not in the app. there's no evidence for or against the claim that it does anything more nefarious.
compare that to any reporting on what tiktok does and the differences should be day and night
