I figured out a way to mimic this effect and I got it mostly working (this was done last year to be honest I don't remember how I came up with some of the values I use) but at the time I got discouraged because a) the thread had gone to shit and b) I couldn't make a good image editor to easily make the images needed for the animation, nor do I have any art skills whatsoever to create the images anyway.
Here is an example of two consecutive images used in the original animation I linked:

The animation just draws the images in sequence, increasing its size little by little until it's time to show the next one.
The reason I want to make this for Yamu is because I think her lore suits such an animation since Wonderland is supposed to be kind of wacky like the original zoom animation I linked. Here is an example I made locally, excuse my shitty paint drawings this was just a proof-of-concept I did to test my project. This little animation is 4 images total.
