At what point should Cover just open up their own VN studio and pump out a game or two a year? It would be a smarter investment than Holoearth.

Go to Aqua's VN game and see how many people downloaded it. 10k ? 1000 ? The answer is only 127 ALL TIME PEAK. And this is supposed to be Holo's biggest VN game so far

So no, investing their time in VNs is actually retarded and unironically has worse value than HoloEarth

Like no hate towards Aqua or Hololive, but thinking their niche VN game will be as popular as regular VN games out there is just delusional. Cover better off letting Entergram do the job as a side-project instead of treating it as the main focus, which will only bleed more money

it flopped very hard on steam but sold enough copies on switch (13k physical on day 1 iirc) that devs going to release a sequel if aqua didn't decide to graduate
i don't think opening a VN studio is a smart idea though this isn't early 80-90s anymore

People already answered you but it was Entergram's best selling game of all time, I don't know how many people know the current state of the visual novel market but it's grim af, the Japanese youth is too invested in soshage so your best bet to sell in Japan is a console release, which means all age, and the fact Steam is so anal about his publishing rules doesn't let devs have a platform to sell their games to a western audience. That being said to answer >>89267358 isn't this game also released by Entegram? I know for a fact the Okayu VN is gonna be released by them.

I don't think it was announced who is making it. ALcot made Miko's first vn, so it could be them again. Though I think they are shutting down soon.

jelly programmed her own lil VN game and released it a few weeks ago, and as someone who has zero interest in VNs, I was on the edge of my seat, just wildly entertained and impressed. While relatively short, the quality of everything about it was great
