>>89385314I'm the complete opposite actually
people will hate me even more than you for this post but I'm gonna say it anyway
I got into vtubers proper (I watched Kizuna AI back in the day but didn't really follow chuubas) in 2020 when Myth debuted and instantly fell in love with them and started watch Holo 24/7 while my interest in anime dropped off the face of the Earth
over time however as Myth burnt out, vtubing became ubiquitous and full of so many dogshit chuubas and drama bullshit - and after Ame graduated - the magic was gone and nowadays I don't feel bad missing streams and don't find them as enjoyable as I used to
meanwhile I have got back into anime again and instantly it make me think 'wow this is so much better than the time sink of watching some mildly entertaining person behind a jpg play some shit game for 4 hours and pretend to be interested in it' and has made question what I was even doing
I now realize it wasn't actually vtubers themselves that appealed to me back then but literally just Myth and the reason being that they were, somehow, anime-esque in a way that no other vtubers feel like they are (or were)
