Probably a few reasons, not all of which are inherently bad or malocious.
The first and most obvious is for fuel to troll fans.
In a similar vein, one might also have a particular chuuba that they especially dislike and want dirt on them to defame them with.
There's also genuine innocent curiosity, since everybody has to come from somewhere and some people just like to be in the know whether they have ulterior motives or not.
And lastly there's the real schizos that take this hobby so seriously and are so mentally ill that they absolutely need to know everything about a chuuba's personal life before they can determine whether or not they can condone supporting them.
There's definitely more reasons, but I don't think it by itself is a bad thing to want to know more about.

While not inherently bad, it definitely results in more bad than good which is why it's a rule in this board to not discuss roommate lifes
I think it's just unnecessary, especially when people here give too much importance to what was said in the past and if X or Y had boyfriend
It just seems like obsessive behavior that has the potential to ruin discussions for people that are only invested in the chuuba themselves
