Sure, people were still pissed off, but most of the community was willing to assume it was just a huge chain of misunderstandings, and that the company would deal with the bad actors in management privately to make sure the Selen drama never happened again. NijiEN would’ve still lost two of their biggest moneymakers, but they might’ve had enough reputation left to survive, and probably a good chunk of their original community would’ve eventually come back to support the remaining talents.
In the long run, they’d still be screwed since their numbers were already trending downward, but the black frame drama sped up their downfall by two or even three years.
As for the rest of the industry, the indie scene wouldn’t have gotten such a big boost, and smaller companies might’ve fared a little better. Hololive would probably be about the same, though you can tell people are now quicker to defend the company or start an uprising when management makes a mistake.
