The act of him doing so was also his very, VERY thinly-veiled way of telling management that the entire vtuber community knew that she had been permanently suspended pending termination for liking the Kurosanji comment; and that actually firing her for agreeing with a fan that Selen's termination was a bad thing, would have resulted in an extremely quick collapse of Niji EN - at the very least, he almost certainly would have quit on the spot rather than do a black screen against her, and it's very likely that at least half the branch would have chosen to walk out instead of slander someone who'd been fired for suggesting that trying to drive a suicidal person into making another attempt was a bad thing.
But his actions didn't really "save" Niji EN as such (he was only trying to save Scarle, and he succeeded with flying colors and without any of that "be careful what you wish for" nonsense), he only delayed the inevitable collapse to some then-indeterminate time after the end of February. But you are absolutely right; Niji EN was mortally wounded in February, and it was an easily avoidable and entirely self-inflicted wound delivered on 12 Feb 2024 at around 2000 Eastern/1700 Pacific.
The US merch warehouse will be closed on Saturday at 2359 JST/0959 EST/0659 PST; the 8th duet song, featuring Vox (of course) and Zali, will release on 12 Dec; and the Q2 report will be published on or around 12 Dec. The end is near, but I don't expect the announcement before the Q2 report.
