Very few fans have the balls to say shit that can get them flak, especially EN fans. Hell, there are topics that even people here prefer not to bring up outside of major incidents. That doesn't mean they don't exist.
Take a look at Matsuri, how many sincerely pissed off ex-fans tweeted at her vs. how many different (sometimes membered) users were spamming or writing angry messages in chat/disliking or even talking here or more importantly on 5ch?
Social media at large likes to pretend that uncouth desires no longer exist and react violently when that bubble is threatened. But they do, and sometimes the people who have those desires are fans, and sometimes the vtuber will for whatever their reason may be choose to consider those fans opinions. So they go here. Because people and even entertainers can have reasons to care about ostensibly shitty opinions, it happens a lot.
