The most talked about example of this is Coco, who got a large following due to her antics being juxtaposed with Hololive's idol facade and her English being used to create a bridge between the foreign fans and the Japanese talents. She doesn't have that anymore.
Because jannies are trannies I'm not going to use names, but there was this popular quasi-indie who could speak both English and Japanese. She had a cute voice and a cute model; a very unique model that people found instantly recognizable and helped her stand out from the pack. Her quasi-indie status gave her some Japanese friends with similar personalities who she could bounce off of, especially since she could explain English things to them, and this lead to a lot of funny moments and helped her become popular. She graduated and reincarnated as an indie, coming up with a model herself and making new friends. Her model is nothing special, because at the end of the day, women all have roughly the same tastes and would be clones of each other if they had the choice; her new friends are spotty e-thots whose fanbases are far removed from the more weeby side of the vtuber sphere she originally became popular with. She still has a following, but no one talks about her anymore. She used to be ahead of the pack, now she's just part of it. And that's fine, if that's what she wants, but if you're someone who watches vtubers for fun you obviously dread shit like that happening.

It's actually pretty surprising to me because Fauna has been one of the most active and popular EN talents recently and I feel like it wasn't that long ago she talked about wanting to GM a TTRPG campaign for HoloEN, probably D&D. I guess something changed between then and now.
But they knew about it 2 weeks ago, which is why FaunaMart wasn't part of the EnReco recap stream. The point of a recap is to remind everyone what happened before so they can know what to expect next. If she's gone, then there's no point in reminding them.
