Yeah, it's crazy. Back then, the only thing we praised Cover for was their talent scouting team. Everything else about management was a joke since the beginning which was expected of a smaller company. I'm not saying that they were all malicious but incompetent would be a fairly accurate assessment. Actually, if we look at IRyS's initial manager, I'd call that malicious. Thankfully, that situation
improved. I remember when one of the girls mentioned the permissions guy went on vacation so they couldn't get new perms. Management has been fucked for so long. Now that they're larger, the talents have even more layers of management to work through. Cover needs to remember that they got here on the backs of their talents. Without them, Cover would still be making crappy ping pong videogames.

Holostars deserve less than what they're getting, not more, and they have a history about being histrionic and whiny even with the ridiculous privileges they've gotten on the backs of the Hololive branch. Have to blame the manager for not advising them to only do so much and not take on more than they can chew.

Allow me to illustrate with an example: Let's say you are a company that creates metal tools and then loan said tools to people for money. You take a piece of raw metal (Talent) and put it in your forge (Streaming). You take your hammer (Fans) and strike your raw metal while it's scorching hot to give it the shape of the tool you're trying to make.

You end up with a nice shape of the tool you need. Now, you could quench the tool right now and add it to your catalogue to be loaned for a guaranteed income, or you could return the metal to the forge in an attempt to shape it into something even better that you could loan at a higher price but you also risk ruining the tool you just built or make that piece of metal unusable thus losing income.

That's the reason of it. Vtubers part of idol agencies are IPs with a value tied to them, just like your favorite Anime or video game character. Making use of these IPs in projects that are then seen as bad or disapointing hurt the value of that IP as it will now be tied to an additional negative aspect. Streaming is literally improvisation: which mean your IP can either take value but it can also lose value if the vtuber screw up, says something they shouldn't or are just in a bad mood.

Therefore it's in the company's best interest to "forge" their talent until they are just good enough and then remove them from any situation where their IP value can be diminished for no gain.

You could even add the fact that after the first few tools made by that company and that it started to become profitable, you hired a bunch of blacksmiths to do the forging for you. Now some of these hired blacksmiths can put that metal back in the forge and improve their tool every single time, but others are barely able to give it its shape in the first place due to being utterly incompetent.

Knowing that more than half of these people can't forge as good as you do, you'd be even more inclined to ask them to not put back the tool in the forge and just do the bare minimum for profitability seeing they have no talent for it.
