Can you guys explain to me why instead of pulling a Gura and stream once every 3 months Hololive vtubers instead decide to graduate? I don't get it

The biggest appeal of being a streamer is doing whatever you want whenever you want. You trade some of that freedom with corps in return for support and publicity, but sometimes you realise you’d rather have the freedom back.

Gura's completely burnt out with streaming and so there's no reason to leave vs just riding out what residual value there is in the ip through merch and sponsorship cuts that requires basically nothing of her.
Fauna isn't burnt out of streaming, she actively wants to continue streaming shes just sick of hololive management. As such going indie better fits her desires.

Gura has the most subscribers in Hololive she can afford to lose a good amount of her fans but most of them can't. If they rarely stream they will bleed away their fans to other vtubers who stream more. Hololive gives a buff so they can do that for a while but there is a reason talents are starting to leave to be indie vtubers.
