Even if this is one of those times where they don't bother showing off an unpainted prototype, there's still typically 6-12 months between announcement and preorder. They were only announced in July, and there's 5 of them. Cover seems to take longer than others so there's no shot preorders will be up in the next few weeks.
That being said, Cover owns her IP. They could still go forward with it anyway. They never have before, but there's probably a shitload of money on the table if they do. It would definitely not be a good move for their public image, but if they wanted to dip their toes into being a black company there's nothing stopping them from doing it.
