Elira larps as the big sister for the girls, so it's possible she volunteered for the stream because somebody had to do it. If you think about it, it doesn't really make much sense for her to do the black stream if you assume she's some kind of Mean Girls type queen bee, because then she'd have the social awareness to know it will hurt her image. The Selen drama happened before people realized going indie doesn't mean career suicide, so a lot of the talk about how she was trying to gaslight Mint into staying with Niji could easily be interpreted as the semi-autistic big sister larper giving reasonably sound career advice to her little sister

I highly doubt she was forced into it. Selen and most of the people involved didn't communicate at all. So when she sees two of her friends show up in the letter that Selen's lawyer supposedly mistakenly sent to Niji, it was probably a pretty easy decision to go and defend them.So far, we know nothing about what Selen thinks the bullying was, so people have tried to fill in the blanks. The public bad behavior all came from whoever published the termination announcement and followup financial statement, which were not even close to professional.

Mean girls aren't necessarily so calculated in their actions. They're usually just coasting on their intuition and charisma and don't have much comprehension of consequences since they can usually just shed crocodile tears if they ever get caught. Hoyo in general is very generous with sponsorships and doesn't give a shit about controversy.
Sayu got one within like a month of returning, and they've been responsive and supportive of her through everything.
I hate China with a passion, but Hoyo gets a pass for at least being nice to my girl, even if they're nice to everyone.

Well I also like how she reacts and takes in a game. With her GTA IV streams for example, it was funny watching her react to the more crude and shocking moments in that cute panicky way of hers, but at the same time found the dynamic between Niko and Roman cute and appreciated their bond as a family, seeing the inner goodness in Niko despite all his grim parts. Whereas with Kiara's playthrough of the same game I just felt like she just found the shock parts gross and rolled her eyes a bit too much, and she didnt really seem to grasp or care for the character of Niko either which is kinda the whole point of that, with how character driven it is. But you are right, usually streams, wheter flesh or vtubers, are just noise. But if they are playing/watching something I actually care about, it is a better experience if they appreciate it and at least get it somewhat

Unfortunately Elira does have a history of being a bitch not in Kurosanji but also as an indie. Remember the Mocca incident? And her name was in the court document we could assume she's indeed guilty of something. Wish none of this happened but it is what it is.
Hopefully she was humbled down by the incident because if she wants to keep Vtubing as a career she'll need to apologize publicly at some point unless she wants to fade into irrelevancy at Kurosanji.
